The Rocket series of language courses are some of the most highly recommended on the internet and with such a vast amount of free access to language tutorials, I thought I’d take a closer look at the Rocket Spanish Premium online course to see if it is worth paying the money. It’s an audio course which is available as a 20 CD package or an instant downloadable version, both created by Maurcio Evlampieff.

So what do you get for your money?
My first impression was that it is an extremely comprehensive course which covers just about everything to help you get immersed fully into Spanish life and culture. The course is broken down into 7 sections as follows:
- 32 interactive tracks covering a variety of everyday scenarios as well as coping in an emergency together with written transcripts which help you keep up with the lessons.
- 31 illustrated grammar lessons – step by step lessons for beginners, intermediate and more advanced levels.
- An audio game to help you recognise over 1,000 words – a fun way of learning words in a short time by hearing them in Spanish.
- As easy way to learn verbs using a software learning game which takes the pain out of learning different tenses.
- Access to the member’s forum – invaluable support with answers questions from other forum members and course teachers. You can also email Mauricio direct.
- Lifetime access to the Rocket learning lounge – this is a virtual learning centre that helps you track your progress and navigates you along the learning path.
There is a tremendous amount of information with the added convenience of being able to learn when you want to, whether it is 3 am in the morning or 10 pm at night. The beauty of audio learning is that you can replay it as much as you like until the information finally sinks in.
I loved having access to a forum – it is worth its weight in gold as it is like having a teacher on call 24/7. You can chat with other members and allay any fears and doubts by sharing experiences and asking questions.
This is a really in-depth course if you want to be able to do more than just converse in Spanish. It’s the sort of course which would suit someone working in Spain or living full time in a Spanish speaking country who wants to be able to read newspapers and books and communicate in writing as well.
All in all it is an excellent course and I most definitely recommend it.
